Consultation Workshop on the CEDAW Implementation Plans and Framework
The National Commission for Women and Children convened a Consultation Workshop on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) Implementation Plans and Framework on 18 March 2026 in Thimphu. The workshop centered on providing an overview of the CEDAW convention and facilitating deliberations on the implementation plans, alongside agency-specific review and alignment of the proposed plans with their priorities and 13th FYP. It also served as a platform to solicit feedback and explore mechanisms to strengthen monitoring, reporting, and stocktaking of implementation plans for the next reporting, in line with the eight-year reporting cycle. Participants included representatives from the PEMA Secretariat, Election Commission of Bhutan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Civil Society Organization Authority, Royal Court of Justice, Bhutan National Legal Institute, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The workshop was organized with support from UNDP under the project “Strengthening People-Centric and Inclusive Access to Justice in Bhutan.”
